A book intended for collectors, enthusiasts and connoisseurs, a sort of illustrated atlas of the planes that characterized the golden age of seaplanes. Twenty years of painstaking work to reconstruct and visually restore a technical and historical heritage, a tribute to machines and men through an international team of authors.

A project by Max Pinucci, Hideaki Ozawa and a team of authors and experts with the scientific supervision by Gregory Alegi, and editorial coordination by Stefano Cosci published by Hun in the Sun and Aeronautica italiana (Italian Air Force), in collaboration with historians, 3D artists, designers, modellers.

Dozens of profiles in scale, three-quarter views by the Japanese expert and 3D artist Hideaki Ozawa, for twenty years dedicated to the virtual reconstruction of the hydroracers. The book is full of amazing and accurate artworks, plates, infographics, maps by Max Pinucci. The editorial layout is by by Elena Degl’Innocenti, MBVision. With historical photographs, semi-transparent tracing paper pages showing aircraft structures, details, engines, cockpits. The texts of various experts and authors are coordinated by the editorial coordinator Colonel Stefano Cosci of the Italian Air Force. The scientific supervision is by Professor Gregory Alegi, one of the most renowned international aviation experts.
The artworks and the photos are accompanied by technical and historical information and summary plates dedicated to chronology, performances and to the development of these beautiful and amazing flying machines.

the game

In Hydroracers players will be immersed in the forgotten epic of the Schneider Trophy, an international aviation race of pure speed that between the 20s and the 30s of the last century brought four nations, the most experienced designers, pilots, mechanics to challenge each other in front of the world to conquer a small, symbolic cup, among the need of affirmation, economic efforts, extreme sacrifices, technological research.

the models

Based on Hideaki Ozawa‘s research and three-dimensional modeling and MBVision‘s industrial design experience, 12 scale models of the most famous seaplanes have been designed and will be produced in 1:144 scale. Designed for the board game but also as collector’s items.

the exhibition

Alongside the book and the game, based on the materials produced and on multimedia contributions, we will design a traveling exhibition made of digital images on screens, architectural video projections, large format digital prints, holographic films, virtual reality, simulators, objects and documents of the period.
